Restorative Dentistry, Dental Crowns

The goal of the Connecticut Valley cosmetic dentists at EMA Dental is to give you the most natural looking smile possible. We want your dental work to be undetectable. Fillings, crowns and veneers should all look and feel like your natural teeth.

Sometimes though, the damage to our patient's teeth cannot be repaired with restorative fillings. Instead, porcelain crowns are needed to improve the smile's appearance. This highly reliable dental technique can be used in the front and the back of the mouth. A complete smile, as well as a functional bite, can even be achieved by replacing missing teeth. EMA Dental has a solid reputation for high quality work and the amazing changes our patients experience using the most advanced cosmetic dentistry technologies. Our goal is a long-lasting correction that borders on permanent- something that can last at least 20 to 30 years.

How Long Does It Take?

If you need a crown, it will take a minimum of two office visits to properly prepare your tooth and fit your permanent crown. The first visit involves removing any decay, shaping the existing tooth, and creating a temporary plastic or metal crown.

The next visit is when you should receive your final crown, which was made in a special dental laboratory. It will be checked for proper fit prior to being cemented into place.

Key Benefits

  • Missing teeth are replaced

What Is The Capability Of A Crown?

Many dental issues that result from accidents, disease or wear can reliably be repaired with crowns or bridgework. Even though these are major problems, there is a solution. High-grade porcelain or gold-bonded porcelain crowns and bridges are the highest strength materials available to repair the most severe dental issues. As a long-term solution, crowns and bridges work well to repair accidental damage, replace lost or broken teeth, or correct broken fillings.

They may not know it, but when patients have unexplained pain in their back teeth, it might be caused by tiny fissures in the tooth as a result of incorrect or damaged fillings. Crowns placed on these teeth can provide relief from the pain without having to remove the teeth. They will also restore a proper chewing surface. For teeth in the front of the smile, if your older fillings have weakened the teeth, then porcelain crowns or bridges might be recommended.
