Tooth Colored Fillings

Composite fillings are mercury-free tooth colored restorations, consisting of a mixture between glass and quartz filler in a resin matrix.  There are a wide variety of uses for composite, including filling areas of decay, replacing existing amalgam, repairing chipped or worn surfaces, filling gaps and esthetic contouring of teeth.  This filling material is micro mechanically bonded to the tooth surface, enabling very conservative tooth preparation.  The composite material is selected to match individual tooth color and translucency, making it indistinguishable from natural teeth.  Composite is placed and molded to each tooth in small increments and is subsequently light cured, making the material hard and ready for use when the restoration is complete.  On average, composite restorations last approximately 7 years.  EMA has many talented clinicians that have mastered the art of this technique-sensitive procedure.
