Porcelain veneers are not the best option for all of EMA Dental's patients. For those patients, bonding is a more productive procedure that can provide improvements for gaps, chips, cracks or discolored teeth.
For bonding to work, your western Massachusetts cosmetic dentist at EMA Dental will start by preparing the tooth. This involves etching the surface and gently brushing the bonding liquid onto the tooth. When that is set, they will apply and sculpt a composite resin into a natural shape. Some additional trimming, smoothing and polishing will result in the most natural appearance possible.
Typically, this entire process can be done in just one visit without anesthesia. You will see an immediate improvement in your smile's appearance. Your natural teeth are stronger than the plastic resin used, so you will have to be careful to avoid staining, chipping, or breaking. You can expect these results to last five to eight years, at which time repair or replacement may be necessary.
