OK, so Prosthodontics Awareness Week isn\u2019t on the tip of everyone\u2019s consciousness, but maybe it should be. What does a prosthodontist do?<\/strong><\/p>\n Prosthodontics is one of only nine dental specialties recognized by the American Dental Association, yet their role is a mystery to most people. A prosthodontist has three to four years of advanced residency training in solving oral health issues at an American Dental Association (ADA) accredited institution to learn the surgical skills necessary to place dental implants, use up-to-the-minute digital technologies to diagnose, replace, and restore missing teeth with implants, crowns, bridges, veneers, or dentures.<\/p>\n The analogy to a medical specialist is apropos. Prothodontists such as EMA\u2019s Dr. Mariano and Vergo are dental specialists.
