They provide specialty services such as bridges, dental implants, crowns, and dentures.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMany dental patients don\u2019t understand very well what a prosthodontist does,\u201d explains Mariano, an Amherst <a href=\"https:\/\/www.emadental.com\/dental-implants.html\">dental implants<\/a> provider. \u201cNational Prosthodontics Awareness Week is an opportunity for us to explain what prosthodontics are and the kind of specialized care that prosthodontists provide. We make a special push to get the word out to our patients and to the community at large.\u201d<span id=\"more-676\"><\/span>Prosthodontists focus on the restoration and replacement of teeth and surrounding dental structures. One of dentistry\u2019s nine specialty fields, prosthodontics requires an additional three years of work following graduation from dental school. \u201cProsthodontists have received additional training in aesthetics, dental implants, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.emadental.com\/dental-crowns.html\">crowns<\/a>, bridgework, and dentures,\u201d points out Vergo, a Springfield, MA prosthodontist.<\/p>\n<p>The American College of Prosthodontists asks its members to use National Prosthodontics Awareness Week as an opportunity to advocate for the prosthodontists\u2019 valuable role and raising public awareness about the importance of a healthy mouth. The college promotes several key messages during this week:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Prosthodontics changes lives<\/li>\n<li>Prosthodontists and technicians create museum quality restorations<\/li>\n<li>Prosthodontists are serious about access to care (dental school clinics and pro bono services)<\/li>\n<li>Prosthodontists provide a broad spectrum of services including maxillofacial<\/li>\n<li>Prosthodontists treat a broad spectrum of patients<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The American College of Prosthodontists\u2019 mission is to represent the needs and interests of prosthodontists to the public by stimulating awareness and interest in the field of prosthodontics. It is the only prosthodontic specialty association in which membership is based solely on education credentials. ACP members must be in or have completed an American Dental Association-accredited advanced education program in prosthodontics.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe college promotes the idea that replacing missing teeth is an essential part of overall health,\u201d explains Mariano, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.emadental.com\/dental-implants.html\">Northampton, MA prosthodontist<\/a>. \u201cProsthodontists are prepared to provide the kind of expert care patients need in considering the best options for replacing missing teeth.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>There are more than 3,000 trained prosthodontists in the U.S., but only about 1,000 of them are board certified. Mariano is the only board-certified prosthodontist in Western Massachusetts and Vergo is the only maxillofacial prosthodontist in Western Massachusetts. Both doctors are affiliated with the Tufts Prosthodontic Specialty Program in Boston and the University of Connecticut\u2019s prosthodontics program.<br \/>\n\u201cEMA Dental offers the only prosthodontic group in Western Massachusetts,\u201d notes Mariano, an Amherst <a href=\"https:\/\/www.emadental.com\/what-is-a-prosthodontist.html\">prosthodontics<\/a> specialist. \u201cWe can offer the whole range of services when it comes to prosthodontics care.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a9 2011 Master Google as one of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mastergoogle.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">best SEO companies<\/a> in the world and EMA Dental group.
