Get a New Toothbrush<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Can you remember the last time you got a new toothbrush? If not, it\u2019s probably time for a change. Dentists generally recommend switching out your toothbrush every three to four months, as the bristles can become frayed and ineffective at cleaning over time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When you go to buy a new toothbrush, be sure to consider your options carefully. For example, a toothbrush with firm bristles could inadvertently damage your teeth and gums; it\u2019s therefore better to opt for soft bristles instead. On top of that, if you normally use a manual toothbrush, you might want to think about getting an electric one this time so that you can clean your teeth as thoroughly as possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Check the Expiration Date on Your Toothpaste and Mouthwash<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Checking your refrigerator for expired food is a staple of spring cleaning, so why not do the same with the dental products in your bathroom cabinet? Expired toothpaste and mouthwash won\u2019t do an effective job of protecting your smile from cavities. On top of that, expired mouthwash can become contaminated by bacteria, making it unsafe to use. For the sake of your oral health, it\u2019s important to throw away and replace expired dental products as soon as possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. You can run it through the dishwasher, but you also have the option of soaking it in soapy water and scrubbing it thoroughly. Visit Your Dentist<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you\u2019re done refreshing your oral hygiene routine at home, you might want to think about scheduling your next checkup and cleaning with your dentist. These routine visits are your best opportunity to get rid of the tartar on your teeth that can\u2019t be removed with brushing alone.
