Causes Of Premature Wear

EAST LONGMEADOW, NORTHAMPTON AND SPRINGFIELD, MASSACHUSETTS – The loss of enamel can cause tooth sensitivity. If it becomes severe, it could lead to tooth loss and the need for dental implants in the future.

Tooth enamel is the outer surface of your teeth, and it protects against cavities. This layer is considered to be the hardest mineral substance in the body. Although it is strong, acids from food and drinks can put the teeth at risk. Wear and tear can also harm the enamel, according to information on the Crest Pro Health Website.

“Acid attacks on the teeth can cause a softening to the enamel,” says Dr. Vincent J. Mariano of EMA Dental, a multi-service practice that also provides tooth whitening with our cosmetic dentists in Springfield MA. “The loss of enamel can also be attributed to wearing, and once the enamel is gone it can’t be rebuilt.” Dr. Mariano explains a few factors of premature wear: (more…)

Dangers in Delaying Dental Visits

Northampton, MA – Northampton dentists Dr. Lisa Emirzian and Dr. Vincent Mariano from EMA Dental warn people not to delay dental visits.
Although economic uncertainties may mean people want to avoid the expense of dentistry, not visiting the dentist can have serious health consequences.
“You may be concerned about your family’s expenses. However, regular visits to your dentist are one thing you shouldn’t cut back on,” says Dr. Emirzian, a Northampton braces provider.  Finding reasons not to devote time and money to a dental visit is very easy. But that is only short-term thinking. If the dentist can find a trouble spot while it’s still in the early stages, it is simpler and far cheaper to treat than if it’s discovered later. (more…)

Dr. Mariano Featured in Implant Article

Amherst, MA – Dr. Vincent Mariano, a Springfield, MA dentist, was quoted in the November 2010 issue of Healthcare News in an article about dental implants. The article described the advantages of using dental implants over bridges or dentures – and detailed recent technological innovations in implants.

Swedish dentist Dr. Ingvar Branemark discovered that titanium tooth implants would fuse with bone. Looking for an expert opinion, the magazine quoted Mariano, a dental implants specialist: “As a result of Branemark’s findings, the way plans are made for tooth replacement has changed significantly….For the first time, we were able to replace a non-removable tooth in the human body and have it attach to human bone….Implants can be used for a single tooth, for multiple teeth, or to stabilize a denture. We can even replace a full set of teeth that are non-removable using multiple implants.” (more…)

Northampton Dentist Warns Against Delaying Dental Visits

Northampton, MA – “With an uncertain economy, many Americans are paring down their expenses,” notes Northampton dentist Dr. Lisa Emirizian. “But, regular dental visits are something you shouldn’t cut back on. Avoiding routine dental visits may save you money now, but it will not pay off in the long run. If a dentist recognizes a problem at an early stage, it is easier and less expensive to treat than if it’s found later.” Prevention is an important key to lifelong oral health.

“If they’re uncovered early enough, many serious conditions can be avoided,” explains on of the best  Northampton MA dentists, Dr. Vincent Mariano. “Oral cancer, decay, abscesses, gum infections, tooth wear, and enamel erosion are all more successfully treated in the early stages.” If neglected, these problems become more serious, and more costly to fix. East Longmeadow/Northampton Dentist Discusses Invisible Orthodontic

NORTHAMPTON, MA — Some people are too embarrassed to undergo orthodontic treatment out of fear and anxiety. Children and teens fear teasing, while adults grow anxious about public perception and gawking stares from colleagues and peers.  But, with the advent of invisible Invisalign orthodontics people don’t have to fear orthodontics anymore says Northampton dentist Dr. Lisa Emirzian of EMA Dental.

In just the last ten years, orthodontics has changed drastically. No longer are patients forced to expose their braces to the public while smiling or talking. Rather, this technology conceals treatment so that patients can live their lives worry-free of public scrutiny. If a patient is looking to improve his or her appearance by correcting tooth misalignments, the last thing he or she wants to do is wear braces that attract attention to their less-than-perfect smiles says Dr. Emirzian, a Northampton invisible braces provider.

“Recognizing the need for subtler technology, the dental community has responded with invisible braces which conceal brackets, and Invisalign treatment which renders treatment virtually unnoticeable,” adds Dr. Emirzian.
Though traditional braces, Invisalign, and other orthodontic methods allcorrect teeth misalignments, they differ in appearance and implementation, providing various options for each patient’s needs.
“One of my favorite experiences is when a patient completes his or her treatment,” says Dr. Emirzian. “The patient is absolutely beaming with pride and joy that they have this new, beautiful look. It’s rewarding to be a part of their self-improvement, and I’m always happy to help.”
